As Fall is fast approaching, I wanted to share some ways to wear your summer dresses into my favorite season of all:) I love the beauty that comes with each season but I must admit that Fall is my absolute favorite season. My children are grown now but I love seeing the school buses out and about and the pumpkin latte back on the menu at my favorite coffee shops. The colors of Fall nature fascinate me and when temperatures start to drop just a little, I love to breathe in the fresh air. With cooler temperatures in the morning that lead to warmer temps in the afternoon, I usually start to dress in layers.
This dress was a purchase when I was going away with my husband a few weeks ago to the Oregon coast. We were attending a concert in the park with some older gentlemen performing Country Christian Bluegrass. It was a lot of fun. I love all genres of music so I enjoyed watching others dance and hearing their stories between songs. I purchased the size medium for the length. This dress comes in sizes xxs to xxl. To help with sizing, I am 5’9 and a slight pear shape. This was the perfect length I believe and will work for both shorter and taller gals:) My navy sandals were some look alikes from my favorite online boutique but are no longer available so I linked some that I really like from JC Penney’s. East 5th is one of the shoe brands I like for both looks and comfort.
The flutter sleeves are perfect for balancing out my shoulders and hips while being girly and feminine and as you can see the v-neck isn’t too low so this would be modest for work or church and the drawstring is very flattering on your waistline.
I love that this dress has pockets and that the navy and white polka dots are a very subtle and modern pattern.
As the weather gets cooler, this is how I would wear this dress to church, work or any event that would call for dressy casual attire. This sweater is an all time favorite. I love the softness and texture of it. It reminds me of a soft, fuzzy blanket on a cool Fall day and makes me want a cup of hot chocolate:) I chose gray but you could also wear a navy or off-white sweater too.
It has long sleeves but it is stretchy so is very comfy when pushed up to 3/4 sleeves and is lightweight but warm. It has pockets but is still very flattering to your hip line which is a major plus. Glamour Farms has a great variety of quality yet flattering and affordable sweaters and cardigans. Here is one of my favorites. I love the vertical fringe which would make you look tall and thin.
Booties and knee high boots are still going strong this year and I think they make the perfect transitional shoes. These are from Old Navy but they are no longer available so I am linking to some from Macy’s that come in both Gray and Navy. Any booties in these colors you could wear though. I also love these taller slouchy gray boots with the buckle to give it a little edge to the femininity of the dress and sweater. They also come in wide calf:)
I’m a simple jewelry type of gal so I went with some silver hoops with little pearls on them from Glamour Farms but they are no longer available so I love these hoops, these studs and aren’t these feathers fun yet subtle.
I hope this gives you a few ideas for taking a cute dress and making it Fall ready. Comment below and let me know some ways you are turning your closet into a Fall ready wardrobe!
